commissions are people who pay you to draw something for them. a lot of people use this website to pay people to draw characters for them . sorry, i hope i'm not confusing you too much . you really are an excellent artist though, people would probably pay you a lot!
The stark background paired with the look of uncertainty sets up a tone of tension that really gets the viewer to think about the concept of Halos and the action of putting someone on a pedestal.
The steam-punk/futuristic feel of the piece leaves the viewer with a sense of panic, what happened to give the child such a dark expression? What future lies ahead for heroes?
Lighting: The Halo's light could have a positive effect on the piece, but I have a feeling you wanted use to think about something, which is why the shadow contrast is much more stark. I think the overshadow on the eyes really brings out the character's perspective.
This piece definitely makes me think. I'm not sure how to feel about 'halos' and the expectations that come with them. But, as a a curious mind I want to know the story behind the person pictures here. I sympathize with him/her for some reason, which makes me return to the piece time and time again.
